Call for Applications:
Dr. Yoram Tal Excellence Award in Quantum Science
From Fundamentals to Applications
Academic Year 2025-2026
The award will be granted for exceptional work in quantum science, published or worthy of publication in a leading scientific journal in the field, or for research conducted as part of undergraduate or graduate degree studies at any Technion faculty.
Award Amount: NIS 10,000
Priority will be given to research in algorithms and computational methods in quantum mechanics, particularly in the field of chemical physics, and to innovative and significant research in quantum science.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Active undergraduate students, graduate students, and postdocs enrolled at the Technion during the period covering the research and including the 2025-2026 academic year.
- The award will be given for research carried out by one or up to two students. In the case of joint submissions by two students, such applications will be considered only provided that both students’ contributions to the work are substantial and of comparable significance.
- The research was conducted within the Technion framework.
- Graduate students and postdocs who receive awards, scholarships, or funding from other sources for the 2025-2026 academic year must verify their eligibility for the Dr. Yoram Tal Excellence Award with Rinat Ben Chaim at: gradsc@technion.ac.il.
- Alumni are not eligible to apply.
Submission Requirements:
- A summary of the work and justification for the nomination
- Recommendation letter from the advisor
- A copy of the student's work
- Applications must be submitted by March 2, 2026
Award Ceremony:
- The honorary guests at the ceremony will be Dr. Tal's family.
- A poster session of the competing applications will be held prior to the award ceremony.
- The winner will be announced at the award ceremony.
- The winner will deliver a 20-minute presentation.
