Quantum graph states are a special family of quantum entangled states that can be represented by graphs. These states are useful for quantum computing, quantum error correction, as well as for quantum communication protocols. Their realization with photons is resource-demanding, and thus, great efforts are currently being invested in searching for efficient schemes to realize such states.

I will shortly review the theory behind quantum graph states and present some of their applications. A few approaches for their generation will be described, including the direction that we study and some of our recent results.
