Call for proposals – Research Seed funding (“Nevet”) Quantum program

31 Jul 2025

The Helen Diller Quantum Center encourages quantum research at the Technion and supports several new research projects each year.

Each selected research project will receive a grant of up to $40,000 (including VAT) which will be valid for 2 years. Exceptions will be considered by request and for 1 additional year at the most.

After two years, the PI's will submit a report describing the research results (1 page).

During the period of the research project, the center expects researchers to apply for additional research grants via the national and international frameworks (e.g., ISF).

The criteria for submitting a research proposal for funding in this channel include:

1. The research proposal was not funded by other external or internal frameworks. In case it was, please include a full disclosure with all the relevant details.

2. The grant is intended for the development of a research project in its initial stages. In the research proposal, please emphasize the innovation of the research.

3. There is no restriction on the number of researchers submitting a proposal. Priority will be given to proposals with collaborations between two or more faculty members representing complementary research areas.

Please emphasize in the research proposal how the collaboration is reflected in the proposed research, and what is the part of each researcher in the joint research.

4. The collaboration can include researchers from other academic institutions or industry. However, Technion funding is intended for Technion researchers only. In such cases, matching will be required by the external researchers’ institutions.

5. The grant is intended for the development of the research and its execution with the assistance of graduate students or post-doctoral students (scholarships only).

6. The equipment cost within the research proposal should not exceed $10,000.
