Call for Proposals – Acquisition and Upgrade of Shared Infrastructure and Individual Lab Equipment in Quantum Science and Technology

The Helen Diller Quantum Center at the Technion invites proposals for the acquisition and upgrade of shared research infrastructure and individual lab equipment intended for research and development in Quantum Science and Technology (QST). 

Infrastructure and shared equipment purchased through this funding program, together with any existing peripheral equipment required for its operation, shall be made equally accessible to all Technion researchers at usage rates approved by the management of the Helen Diller Quantum Center. Applicants are therefore required to describe how the equipment will be made available to the Technion research community, including the allocation of qualified personnel for equipment operation, user training, technical support, scheduling, and related activities. 

The evaluation of proposals will take into consideration: 

• The anticipated number of users within the Technion Quantum community.

• Availability for training and technical support. 

• The scientific and technological importance of the research to QST. 

• Matching funds from other sources. 

• Maintenance and operation by qualified personnel. 

Funding may be used for the acquisition of equipment as well as construction and installation costs directly associated with its installation. 

All equipment purchased under this program must acknowledge the support of the Helen Diller Quantum Center and be labeled accordingly: "The Helen Diller Quantum Center – Technion." 

Applications should be submitted no later than August 31, 2026. 

Required Attachments 

1. Proposal Description (maximum two pages, PDF) 

Please attach a two-page PDF document including: 

• A description of the requested equipment and its intended use. 

• Its relevance to Quantum Science and Technology. 

• Information regarding similar equipment available in other laboratories or centers at the Technion or at other universities in Israel. 

• Details regarding the accessibility of the equipment to other researchers. 

• A list of potential users, including researchers from the Technion Quantum Center and industry. 

2. Price Quotations 

Please attach: 

• Detailed price quotation for the requested equipment and an alternate (second) detailed price quotation.

• Matching funds from other sources.

• The amount requested from HDQC. 

3. Commitment Letter 

Please attach a signed commitment letter from both the Faculty Dean and the Academic Manager of the Infrastructure Center (if applicable), including commitments regarding:

• Allocation of manpower for user training and technical support. 

• Maintenance and operation. 

• Equal access to the equipment for Technion researchers (if applicable). 

• Usage rates approved by the Technion management and the Helen Diller Quantum Center.
