Scholarships for outstanding Post-Doctoral Researchers at Leading Research Institutes in the Fields of Quantum Science and Technology

 

The Helen Diller Quantum Center will grant several scholarships for the 2025 academic year to outstanding Post-Doctoral Researchers, who will conduct research in the fields of quantum science and technology at leading institutions and who are interested in joining Technion as faculty members, upon completion of their post-doctoral research.

The scholarship amount is up to $15,000 for one academic year, with the option to request funding for a second academic year, subject to proof of significant achievements during the  post-doctoral research. Candidates can request a second funding allotment after one or two years.

Candidates must conduct post-doctoral research in quantum-related fields, such as quantum computing, quantum communication, quantum materials, etc.

 

The following prerequisites must be met in order to apply for a grant:

1.  The candidate must secure a host institute and supervisor that are committed to covering most of the candidate’s funding.

      Please elaborate regarding the various existing or expected sources of funding.

2.  The candidate must conduct their post-doctoral research at a prominent international research institute for a period of at least two years.

3.  The candidate is expected to receive their doctoral degree no later than one year after departing for their post-doctoral research,

     and no more than five years after completing their doctoral degree.

4.  Former members of the academic faculty may not apply.

 

You should submit your application no later than September 15th, 2024 and attach the following documents:

1.  C.V., including list of publications, conferences, citations and prizes.

2.  Transcript of grades from the Master and PhD degree and a summary of the doctoral thesis.

3.   Application letter with information about the institution where the post-doctoral research will be conducted and additional sources of funding available to the candidate,  such as external post-doctoral scholarships and support by the post doc host.

4.    Two recommendations from faculty members who know the candidate  (One from the advisor).

5.    A letter of invitation from the post-doctoral supervisor (including contact details).

6.    A research program for the post-doctoral research. Its relevance to the field of quantum science and technology must be stated clearly.

7.    Commitment to conducting research abroad for at least two years and devoting the entire time to academic activity at the research institution.

8.    Written declaration that the candidate will approach Technion towards the end of their post-doctoral research period in order to join one of Technion’s faculties.

        This commitment is a condition for receiving  a scholarship.

A decision will be reached at the appropriate time based on the candidate’s achievements and considerations of the relevant faculties and of Technion.
