Quantum Exhibit competition

28 Dec 2021

The Helen Diller Quantum Center at the Technion is announcing a competition for the best idea for creating a display on the subject of quantum science and technology. The winner will receive a generous prize.

There are currently 12 exhibits at the Technion’s Visitors Center, depicting a variety of breakthroughs by Technion faculty and alumni (including the nano-Bible, the quasiperiodic crystal, and others).

We would like to add a new display that will explain quantum science and technology to the general public. The visual exhibit must shine a light on a research subject taking place at the Technion in the field of quantum science and technology.

The purpose of the competition is to determine the concept that will be selected for the new display. (The actual construction of the exhibit will take place at a later date and, if necessary, will be executed by professionals with expertise in building exhibitions).

The prize for the idea that will be chosen is NIS 3,000. If the idea is submitted by a group of students, the prize money will be divided among them.

The cost of constructing the display must not surpass NIS 20,000. In other words, the proposed concept must take into account that the production process should not cost more than the budget (NIS 20,000).

The proposal must include the following:

  • The name of the person heading the research that is featured in the proposed concept.
  • Background – A short explanation about the subject of the research, focusing on potential innovations/applications.
  • A functional plan with a detailed description of the materials required for building the display.

Deadline for submitting the proposal: December 28, 2021

Please send proposals to: quantum@technion.ac.il

*The competition is open to students who are enrolled at the Technion (undergraduate and graduate degrees).
